Menu Highlights: Classic Pub Fare with a Modern Twist

The menu at The Greendale Oak is a celebration of traditional British comfort food, elevated with contemporary ingredients and flavors. Each dish is thoughtfully crafted, showcasing the finest locally sourced ingredients. The signature pies are a highlight, with buttery, flaky pastry enveloping rich fillings like tender beef and ale or creamy chicken and leek. These are the kind of comforting dishes that feel like home, yet are elevated to new heights by expert preparation.

For those craving something lighter, the freshly prepared salads are a standout. The inclusion of seasonal vegetables, paired with grilled chicken or smoked salmon, creates refreshing dishes that are as satisfying as they are healthy. And, of course, no British pub experience would be complete without a hearty portion of fish and chips. The Greendale Oak takes great pride in its crispy, golden batter and flaky fish, making it one of the best in the area.

But what truly sets The Greendale Oak apart is its creative take on traditional British fare. The vegetarian options, including a flavorful butternut squash risotto, cater to all dietary preferences without sacrificing taste or satisfaction. Additionally, the pub offers a carefully curated selection of local ales, perfect for pairing with any dish on the menu.

Booked here as a date night while staying near clumber park for the weekend with my husband. The venue is so lovely, staff were friendly and showed us to our table. Food menu has great choice, and the food itself was absolutely fantastic! Our servers on the night were Millie and Charlie and I couldn’t fault them, polite and friendly, kept our drinks flowing too. Would definately recommend this place to anyone in the area.less

We went for a late lunch at the Greendale Oak, and myself and my wife had a meal which included mashed potatoes (which was amazing! Sadly, there was a guy on the next table - who was what can only be described as a curmudgeon. He was so rude to one of the staff by insisting that the chef should use real potatoes instead of instant mash, Millie told the customer she would have a word, then promptly returned to advise the guy that they were indeed real potatoes which had been processed with a ricer. This was met with an audible “Humph” of disbelief! This goes to prove that the customer is not always right. It was so well handled by Millie, as she was incredibly calm and professional, even when faced with a barrage of rudeness. Well done Millie ????less

Had the brie and prosciutto open sandwich £10 !! Omg it was inedible rock hard white bread with a smear of melted brie and wett soggy prosciutto sat on top with a very poor strange tasting sloppy salad , my mum has the half fish and chips that a fish fingers would have been larger ! I would not have paid £3 for the open sandwich never mind £10 . I made the lovely Waitress aware and was offered a alternative meal I'd gone past eating at his point on nibbling chips to feed myself, I was offered a dessert to , the a drink which I thought was complimentary after my meal not being edible, hence I had a small red along with my mother, then went to pay the bill to find I'd been charged for the wine , hey ho that is ok but then for the young man behind the bar who took my payment, saying we'll it's sold loads today and only you have complained ! I said yes it was not edible! Then he rudely replied ! You Didn't have to pay for it!!!! ???? Why should I I didn't bloody eat it !! This young bar man needs to take a leaf from the waitress on manners,! Hence that's our custom lost !!! Will will be going to the Larch Farm!! We're the food and staff and lovey and consistent!!less
